Work History

Head of the Department of Registry of Cultural

Ministry of Culture and Sports
04.2023 - Current
  • The registration and cataloging of cultural assets are fundamental processes for the conservation, protection, and management of a nation's cultural heritage by law. These procedures allow for the identification, documentation, and systematization of information on objects of historical, archaeological, and ethnological value, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
  • In the case of the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology of Guatemala (MUNAE), these tasks are essential due to the richness and diversity of the collection it houses. The museum houses thousands of pre-Hispanic and ethnographic artifacts that represent the history and identity of the country's peoples.
  • Drove process improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies, developing solutions, and monitoring results over time. An efficient methodology was sought to register MUNAE artifacts, with the goal of better controlling and organizing the collection. This helps ensure that accurate information is available when the conservation process begins.
  • I established key performance indicators and monitored progress in the department so we can accomplish objectives consistently.
  • Train department staff members, fostering a culture of learning about pre-Hispanic culture, the nation's cultural heritage, and its legal protection.
  • Facilitated knowledge sharing among staff members through regular training sessions on best practices relevant to their roles within the organization.
  • I used my experience in customer service and analytics skills to teach employees how to get work done efficiently, quickly, and smoothly.
  • I have taken courses on archaeological heritage intervention and conservation, learning new techniques and methodologies that have been implemented in the Department to describe and understand the artifacts.
